(For we walk by faith, not by sight) – 2 Corinthians 5:7

As she approaches, the woman notices a man seated on a park bench and sits nearby.   Shortly thereafter, she engages in small talk, and the man discloses his anxiety about a scheduled job interview because he has yet to receive confirmation from God. Feeling led to speak on the subject, she says: “Young man, I’ve been where you are, a place of uncertainty. Not knowing which direction to go in. But isn’t that what faith is, trusting that where you’re going is God’s guidance?  Refreshed and composed, the man stood and thanked the woman for being the sign he had prayed for.

If to acronymize the word Faith, it would be: Forging Ahead Ignoring Tempting Hesitation.  It’s proceeding on a path purposed for good despite not having received confirmation from God.  It’s trusting that where you are heading is the fulfillment of Psalm 37:23, which says: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”  It’s not denying fearful thoughts and doubts over the possibility of being wrong.   But it’s choosing not to allow those feelings to overshadow the reward of activating faith.

Are you debating the pursuit of a career or some other endeavor, and you’re unsure because you have yet to receive a sign or a hint that you’re going in the right direction? I’m learning that stepping out in faith often requires moving forward with or without confirmation while fearfully excited.
