Neediness – Monday, May 18, 2026

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is – Jeremiah 17:7

Your faithfulness and Your mercy
Are my water
For I am thirsty
Like a child

I need Your hand
To lead me and guide me
Be the Friend
Who walks beside me
As my Father
You understand me.

My dependence on God is what I sought to describe in the opening chorus, where I conclude: “Never will I not need.” This condition of neediness is what the author of Psalm 42:1 disclosed: “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”  And then in verse 2: “My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God.”

The word “neediness” usually conjures up thoughts of someone clingy and unhealthily dependent; however, that isn’t the case when applied spiritually. Instead, it represents a position of humble awareness and reliance on God in all matters.
