Still Climbing – Friday, May 22, 2026

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us – Hebrews 12:1

“I’m here to tell you that you can do it.” This inspirational statement is from a WHYY news article about Betty Williams, who earned a high school diploma in 2023 at the age of 69.   Her remarkable achievement is matched by Peggy E. Moore, who at 75 became the oldest graduate from Temple University’s Class of 2026, earning a bachelor’s in general studies. She announced in The Philadelphia Tribune: “It was always my plan to keep moving forward and finish my degree, no matter what happened or how long it took…I always kept that goal in the back of my mind.”

I heard it said, “God gives the sneakers, but it’s up to you to put your feet in them and walk.” The logic of that theory is wonderfully demonstrated by Betty and Peggy, who didn’t stop moving forward. Time became a byproduct, not an obstacle.  They proved that ongoing efforts will eventually pay off, as promised in Galatians 6:9 when it said: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Hopefully, today’s conversation encourages you to stay committed to your quest and not allow anything to become a hindrance. Be confident that your status, still climbing, will be rewarded in the future, and your resilience will motivate others.
