And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest – Exodus 33:14
As I turn a new calendar page,
Like walking on an empty stage,
Unknown what lies ahead—
Applause or boos instead.
But there is one thing I know for sure:
That You’ll be in front of every door,
Walking in with me, so I’m not alone,
To remind me I’m not performing on my own.
So, as I move forward from things left behind,
I gladly anticipate what I expect to find,
That it shall continually still
Graciously demonstrate Your loving will.
As I normally do when entering a new month, I assess the days that lie ahead, as if entering a stage of expectations and uncertainties. This includes acknowledging the stills, those continuations such as financial obligations and relationships—most importantly, the one with God. Doing so establishes my footing, whereby I recognize His faithful companionship and guidance to help me perform—carry forth—His will.
On this first Sunday in July, I encourage you to reflect upon your most important constant, God. Knowing that you’re not walking alone and that you’re being divinely guided will help you navigate the other stills, those ongoing features in your life.
