They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing – Psalm 92:14
When you’ve reached a certain age,
It can feel as if you’ve turned the last page
And you are only coasting along.
Then God opens your eyes
So you will recognize
That you were entirely wrong.
Even though it seems
The days of old held your dreams,
Divine timing has instead
Positioned open doors
To bless you even more,
Since good days are still ahead.
The opening poem is a transparent conversation about getting older, as well as a pep talk to discourage negative notions. It’s a reminder that good things are still ahead, and that I haven’t turned the final page of my script or given my best performance.
Maybe you have celebrated another birthday, and grey hairs have become more frequent, along with other signs of aging. Please know that your good days aren’t over; they are still ahead, waiting for you to find them.
