“All done!” Stan said jubilantly after activating his new debit card. His previous card had been compromised after he lost his wallet, forcing him to deal with the headache of fraudulent charges. Feeling he needed to be more proactive in safeguarding his financial information, Stan decided to make a change. He wouldn’t make the classic mistake of writing down his PIN and placing it right next to the card in his wallet. This time, he had a much better idea—or so he thought.
“Melvin, I’m about to share something very important with you,” Stan told his best friend over the phone. “I need you to write this down in case I forget.” Stan then read aloud his new 16-digit card number, including the PIN. He ended the call with a stern, final warning: “Don’t share what I told you with anybody other than me!”
Just as two wrongs don’t make a right, neither will two unwise decisions equal wisdom. Stan’s actions clearly disclose a pattern of flawed choices, and his latest one will likely lead to a similar outcome. God expects us to use wisdom, and that includes applying it wisely.
