Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus – Romans 3:24
Some still believe,
That salvation must be achieved.
They refuse to learn,
That eternal life can’t be earned.
It’s a pointless race,
Their futile chase.
If only they could see,
That the gift is free.
Because Jesus gave His best,
That through grace, we can rest.
We can instead rest in God’s love and grace. It’s not your works that justify you, but it’s your faith that makes you righteous before God. This was one of my many notes from a previous sermon that centered on the unearned gift of salvation. The pastor effectively interpreted Romans 3:22-23, which describes how we all have fallen short of God’s perfect standards, thereby deserving eternal punishment. Therefore, our works aren’t for the purpose of gaining eternal life; rather, they are to glorify God.
Though we are required to work for a paycheck, this isn’t the case with our salvation. God’s love through His Son took care of our debt. Therefore, we can live each day resting in the assurance that grace, not works, is the path to eternal life.
