Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away – James 4:14

Your every moment
When perceived as rent
Makes you a tenant

Granted access to spend it
Wisely or foolishly
Generously or selfishly

Humbly or arrogantly
Obediently or rebelliously
Like a valuable gem you borrow

Not promised again tomorrow
Your moments, joy or sorrow
Are worth every minute of every hour

A reminder of the fragility of life occurred during a social gathering when several once-popular singers were remembered not only for their extraordinary talents, but also for their untimely deaths. Although some had died from health issues, others may have contributed to their own demises through reckless lifestyles. It inspired me to write about how the choices we make affect our status as renters. Because regardless of whether you are a Christian or not, Earth is only a temporary stay we’ve been granted.

No matter what position we may find ourselves in, our moments—happy and sad—are included in the time we’ve been allowed to borrow. Treasuring them will make your payments—sowing and reaping—worthwhile.
