Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain – 1 Corinthians 9:24
Thoughts of the movie Forrest Gump come to mind, specifically when Forrest’s friend Jenny shouted, “Run, Forrest, run!” to avoid the taunting and stones being thrown at him by a group of local bullies. What made the scene so impressive was that, as Forrest began running, the braces on his legs fell apart, and he ran naturally, as if he had no physical impairment. Feelings of inadequacy can become braces, impairing one’s ability to do their best. Believing God equips those He assigns loosens the weights, allowing successful completion to become the primary focus.
When it’s recognized that being divinely selected is itself a prize, then fulfilling whatever’s been assigned becomes a form of gratitude. So, whether we’re waiting for our baton, which is on its way, or have received it, let’s do so with eagerness
