When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom – John 2:9
Along with a soft and gentle touch,
Included what was needed so much
From the vessel God used to show me
How He often supplies unexpectedly.
It was a wonderful reminder for each day
That what I lack, God will provide in His way—
Even if to see Him perform, once again,
The miracle that took place in John 2:7-10,
When I, with anticipation, trust to find
That Jesus is still making wine.
The opening poem encompassed an incident that not only surprised me but also helped me recognize God’s promise to supply what’s needed, regardless of what is or isn’t present. This is reminiscent of when Jesus, while attending a wedding, was informed by His mother about the absence of wine and instructed: “Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it” (John 2:7-8). Therefore, it is logical to believe that such miracles continually happen and that our waterpots will be filled with whatever is lacking.
On this Sunday, I hope you feel encouraged in your relationship with God and in His ability to show up however and whenever you least expect it, to supply what you most need.
