I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust – Psalm 91:2
Hope is like a seed
Planted in our minds
That will flourish and breed
When watered it finds
Much-needed spiritual herbs
Nutrients for good fruits
As in chap 3, verses 5-6 of Proverbs
Soil to grow strong roots
So, when the weeds attack
Hope withstands
Because it doesn’t lack
Faith in God’s hands.
I’ve learned that the “care” in 1 Peter 5:7—which says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”—doesn’t only mean problems; it also includes hopes and dreams. Because God cares about His children’s desires, He will ensure they align with His will and purpose, as Philippians 2:13 says: “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” I likewise can trust that my wishes and aspirations are safe, as promised in Psalm 91:1: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
When the seed of hope is planted in God’s agreement, then it’s safeguarded from weeds of setbacks and delays. It’s trusted that God’s “refuge” and “fortress” are securing its scheduled season to blossom.
