Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him – James 1:12
I never said I wouldn’t allow you to have battles.
But I promised that together, we would win them.
So, arise, my child.
Dwell not on what is being done to you.
But instead dwell on what I have promised you.
The opening continuation of yesterday’s thoughts from God’s perspective highlights a misconception that problems cease once you become a Christian. This inspired the poem to help me shift my focus from hardships to mindfulness of God’s Word and His promises for every season. By doing so, I can trust that no matter the ordeal, it is working for my good spiritually, which is assured in Romans 5:3-4: “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”
On the first Sunday in August, let’s find comfort knowing that regardless of what this month contains, we can rest in what God has assured us. So that when trials come knocking, we won’t dwell on them but refocus our attention on what’s been promised.
