Overspend It! – Monday, May 11, 2026

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken – Amos 5:14

There are no guarantees
That God will grant you or me
The chance to have more time to talk and laugh

So, take every minute
And overspend it
Making memories

I heard it said that an individual’s existence begins and ends with two breaths: the first (birth) and the last (death).   It emphasizes the importance of making each breath in between worth taking. This message is stressed in “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw, when he said:  “I went skydiving/I went Rocky Mountain” upon learning of an expected diagnosis.  It’s the theme of “Making Memories,” a song I wrote about the fragility of life and the need to take every minute and overspend it, whenever possible, by doing rewarding things.

Mondays don’t have to be humdrum. Valuable moments can be found at our workplace.  Remembering that only God knows the time or day when life—ours or those we care about—is taken away makes every minute worth cherishing.
