Consistency (2 of 2) – Sunday, October 18, 2026

Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen – Hebrews 13:21

It’s striving to fulfill each day the goal,
To do my best in every single role.
Believing I have been divinely asked,
“Be obedient in what’s been tasked.
Even if called to work in obscurity,
Show honor by working diligently.”

So, I’ll keep my focus on the prize:
The vision of God’s pleased eyes,
Choosing each day to once again
Make consistency a good friend.

The opening poem perfectly describes a crossing guard whose cheerful and upbeat presence still comes to mind even after more than two decades.  Her behavior, regardless of the weather, perfectly demonstrated consistency, for which she was well-praised in a newspaper’s obituary notice.  Though I never interacted with her beyond a wave as my car passed by, she left an impressionable memory that I continue to admire.

While there’s no guarantee we’ll love everything that we’ve been assigned to do, we can nevertheless ask God to help us be an example of faithfulness as promised in Hebrews 13:21, so that consistency becomes a good friend.
