Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases – Psalm 103:3
“I almost forgot. Here’s your invite to this evening’s TGIF get-together,” Stephanie said, handing over a postcard. “Thank you,” Michelle said, taking the postcard. “After having to apologize for saying the wrong thing to a co-worker, a TGIF to let off steam sounds perfect. Just two things, is it alright to show up in jeans? I know the ones I’ve been to in the past were really laid back. And does BYOB apply?” “No worries,” Stephanie assured, “the same dress code applies tonight as it does on Sundays, come as you are. And don’t worry about BYOB; Bibles will be supplied. See you soon at Thank God I’m Forgiven!”
While TGIF is widely recognized as “Thank God It’s Friday” to celebrate the end of a workweek, another spiritual version isn’t as familiar. However, when considering its magnitude, “Thank God I’m Forgiven” far outweighs its counterpart. Since every person seeking salvation through Jesus Christ and remaining in good standing thereafter will need forgiveness from God, who willingly grants it to those with repented hearts.
Celebrating the end of a Monday-Friday workweek is normal and justifiable. However, taking the time to ponder another interpretation of TGIF is even more rewarding. So on this Friday, please take a moment to, with a grateful heart, announce: “Thank God I’m Forgiven!”
