The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved – Psalm 93:1
A chill in the air, I’m told,
Had been forecast to unfold.
It’s what I’ve waited to see:
Fall, even if unofficially.
Although it brings a smile
Greeting what’s taken a long while,
With it will certainly come
Occasions I will not welcome.
But I’ve been here before—
The entering and exiting of my door—
And I’ve weathered the storms,
No matter their shapes or forms.
For though the guards may change,
My Lord, over it all, still reigns.
The opening poem, though written a week earlier, is nevertheless appropriate for the approaching official first day of fall. While relieved by a more comfortable climate, I’m also reminded that autumn fluctuated in past years, becoming abnormally cold. This brings a host of hardships, both financially and physically. Yet, I’m reassured of God’s unchanging position and unfailing support.
So, as we begin this Monday, I hope you are assured that no matter what changes may come in your life, God still reigns.
