The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them – Deuteronomy 33:27
Even if my cupboards are nearly bare,
And I struggle not to overly care,
Even if things aren’t as I thought they’d be,
Because I had planned differently for me—
Even if I continue to fervently pray,
And situations still aren’t going my way,
Yet I’ve discovered what Paul meant
When he said, “In all things to be content.”
Thus, on this day I gratefully know
That whatever my future may show,
I’ll be secure, kept from all harms,
While cradled in God’s arms.
I’ve found it helpful to evaluate the possibilities of a new month by remembering what is coming forward with me—including debts, responsibilities, and even unrealized expectations. Nevertheless, while goals, objectives, and resources may shift, God’s love won’t. He will always remain faithful.
So, on this first Sunday in September, I encourage you to take time to envision yourself cradled in God’s arms. Doing so will make all the cares of this new month drain away.
