Give us this day our daily bread – Matthew 6:11
If I could paint a picture of this day
It would reflect everything going my way
Like a doorman opening the world to me
So that to my liking is what I’ll see
But oh, how foolish is it to believe
That I could remotely achieve
What I’m powerless to do
Which is why I give to You
A blank sheet to paint Your way
The picture of Your will for me this day
I was inspired to write the opening poem to reflect how often my plans for a given day will lack God’s input. I will overlook the core message of “The Lord’s Prayer” despite reading it each morning: “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Which means it is God, not me, who has authority over each second, minute, and hour of every day.
I’ve discovered how easy it is to read Scriptures and yet overlook key messages specifically about God’s authority over all things. Therefore, I must remember that my plans aren’t foolproof, and believing they are immune to God’s realignment makes me foolish.
