Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us \u2013 Hebrews 12:1<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Like a whimsical child,<\/span>
\nAllowing imagination to run wild,<\/span>
\nI picture them in the crowd:<\/span>
\nMy loved ones, chanting out loud,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keeping vigil, like a guardian angel,<\/span>
\nCoaxing me to remain faithful\u2014<\/span>
\nThat I will one day come to receive<\/span>
\nA crown for those who earnestly believe.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So, while it\u2019s only wishful thinking,<\/span>
\nI will cling to the joy\u00a0it\u2019s bringing.<\/span>
\nEven if it’s simply to imagine<\/span>
\nThem standing with Jesus, my Friend,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And though they are physically gone,<\/span>
\nI envision them steadfastly cheering me on.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The opening poem is inspired by a scene in the final episode of <\/span>Walker, Texas Ranger<\/span><\/i>, titled: \u201cFinal Showdown \u2013 Part 2.\u201d It features Walker and Alex holding baby Angela as they walk up their pathway, greeted by cheers from well-wishers awaiting their arrival. This touching image has often stirred my imagination, helping me envision Christian loved ones who, though deceased, are looking down and cheering for me to remain faithful.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While no recordings in the Bible support my wishful thinking, I believe that the tools available to help us Christians\u2014such as devotional books, inspirational music, and shows\u2014include our imagination. For me, that means envisioning my family in Heaven cheering me through this life toward my eternal home. Hopefully, you too have allowed your mind to become like that of a whimsical child.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
