Lifetime’s Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery<\/em> is a story about Cassie Newton, a married best-selling Christian author and feminist icon. While Cassie’s advocacy of empowerment had gained her a large following, it also ignited opposition and threats. Ultimately, concerns for Cassie’s safety led to the hiring of a bodyguard, and it eventually developed into a romantic relationship. This affair subsequently became the catalyst for a blackmail scheme by Cassie’s assistant.<\/p>\n

I perceived the movie as a modern-day version of David\u2019s fall from grace when he chose to pursue a married woman named Bathsheba.\u00a0 It also sparked the remembrance of Jesus\u2019 message, when He said: \u201cBut I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart\u201d (Matthew 5:28).\u00a0\u00a0Both Cassie and David chose to allow a glance at an attractive object to become the breeding ground for lust.\u00a0\u00a0Consequently, they chose not to recognize their marital and spiritual commitments and yielded to their yearnings.<\/p>\n

In many instances, before falling physically, a person has an opportunity to catch themself. The same applies when feeling spiritually shaky: God will provide a window to compose oneself and keep from falling.
