Yellowstone<\/em> was an excellent tutorial of life as a rancher and the daily demands of managing livestock while dealing with unpredictable elements.\u00a0\u00a0It also explored contrasting mindsets, predominantly between the patriarch, John Dutton, and his youngest son, Kayce.\u00a0\u00a0While they shared a strong work ethic, they conflicted in the prioritization of their loyalties. It\u2019s a message Kayce conveyed when he said: “When you fight for a thing, the thing doesn’t care if you win or lose because the thing ain’t alive. But when you fight for people, they care.”<\/p>\n

John\u2019s \u201cthing\u201d was ensuring his family\u2019s legacy of wealth, the Yellowstone Ranch, at any cost, whereas Kayce\u2019s motivation was the preservation of family, particularly his wife and son.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Their personal differences clearly dispelled the notion \u201cLike father like son,\u201d which is the belief that a child is inextricably destined to continue a parent’s behavior.\u00a0\u00a0The Bible provides several examples of cycles being broken, such as King Hezekiah, who chose not to walk in the wicked ways of his father, King Ahaz.\u00a0\u00a0This was also true for Jonathan, as he chose not to adopt the self-seeking ambitions of his father, King Saul, or his father\u2019s jealous hatred for David.<\/p>\n

Breaking the cycle of negative generational behaviors doesn\u2019t signal disrespect for one\u2019s parents.\u00a0 Instead, it demonstrates the loyalty and obedience of a Christian who follows Jesus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
