Not with eyeservice, as\u00a0menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart \u2013 Ephesians 6:6<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMavis, close the door and have a seat,\u201d Darryl instructed. \u00a0\u201cYes, Sir. \u00a0Is there a problem?\u201d Mavis asked, as she complied. \u00a0\u201cComplaints that you\u2019ve been micromanaging your employees on a task you assigned them.\u00a0 The key to being a good manager is written on the poster behind me: \u2019Take your hands off what you\u2019ve handed over.’\u00a0 On that note, how\u2019s the project I delegated to you coming along? Is it going smoothly?\u201d Darryl inquired. \u201cI think now that I\u2019ve heard my employees\u2019 complaints and that I need to take my hands off of it, it will, Sir,\u201d Mavis assured.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve\u00a0been Mavis<\/em>. \u00a0This was my observation as I reflected on those occasions when I had micromanaged God’s handling of my prayer requests. I allowed my inability to see proof to make me doubt His involvement, and thereby I took on Thomas’s disbelief in Jesus\u2019 resurrection, in which he was nicknamed \u201cDoubting Thomas.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Then there were instances when I had been assigned a task and passed it along to someone else. Such behavior had been King Saul’s undoing when he wrongfully delegated God’s directives to his army, as told in 1 Samuel 15.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m learning that delegation is an important feature in a relationship with God. \u00a0It\u2019s a reciprocal agreement that begins with prayer requests\u2014trusting He\u2019ll take care of them.\u00a0 \u00a0Then it’s about being obedient and doing what\u2019s been assigned, without choosing to delegate it to anyone else.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
