It just makes it harder\u00a0to heal.\u201d This had been one of the lines in an emotionally charged\u00a0<em>Boston Blue<\/em> with Mae, seeking to compel her father, Reverend Edwin Peters, to get further tests to address concerns about his heart. She had at one point challenged him to practice\u2014walk the talk\u2014what he preached by reminding him of a sermon he had delivered about regular checkups.<\/p>\n<p>There were two takeaways from that episode: (1) No one is exempt from pride\u2019s deceitfulness.\u00a0\u00a0(2) No one is exempt from God\u2019s directives. It doesn\u2019t matter one\u2019s pedigree, social status, or religious distinction; anyone can become susceptible to believing themselves immune to certain matters.
