The Melting (1) – Monday, February 23, 2026

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day – 2 Corinthians 4:16

Oh, how beautiful it is to see/The melting that’s happening around me/Little by little and slowly but surely/The warmth is making the snow flee/Oh, how thankful I now can be/To witness this certainty/That winter’s sting is but a short misery/To usher in my awaited expectancy.

The opening poem is not only to express my elation over the gradual disappearance of the remnants of a winter storm, but it’s also a reminder of other areas of melting.  Externally, I can see the progress of my hard work in the mirror, such as weight loss.  Internally, I’m aware of 2 Corinthians 4:16 through God’s inner workings, which, when tested, have shown increased self-control and more patience.

Possibly by the time this conversation is read, all evidence of snow has fully disappeared in your area, as well as mine.   However, the melting away of former behaviors and mindsets and their renewal will continue daily.  Therefore, we must still strive against those metaphorical winter storms—Satan’s harassment—that threaten to leave mounds of snow when we choose not to resist temptation.
