The Gap (2) – Wednesday, May 27, 2026

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before – Philippians 3:13

Living in the gap, for me
Is where I didn’t expect to be
Questioning what went wrong
Is this where I belong

But it’s the place I reconcile
With thankfulness, to graciously smile
Knowing that even here
God’s presence is always near

So with full assurance
I ignore any reluctance
As I proactively believe
I have much more to achieve.

Apostle Paul learned how to live in his gap, to be content in every situation, by perceiving every season as an opportunity for his ministry.    This was the case as recorded in Acts 16:25-34, when apostle Paul and Silas, while imprisoned, led a jailer to Jesus Christ.  But Apostle Paul wasn’t complacent, as he projected forward motion: “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14). Therefore, it can be surmised that apostle Paul both accepted where he was and continually worked towards improving himself.

I have learned that you can find contentment and value living in your gap.  And with a grateful heart and God’s guidance, discover an even better “hoped for.”
