But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord – 2 Corinthians 3:18
“So, who’s brave enough to share the message learned from watching the movie Facing the Giants? Mrs. Graves, the Sunday school teacher, inquired. “I will,” Jimmy said, standing to his feet. “Its message for me was that I don’t have to get it right before getting it right.” “Thank you, Jimmy,” Mrs. Graves said, “for your creative way of saying that making mistakes doesn’t have to be your final grade. God grades on a curve with plenty of opportunities to refine and redeem your life.”
One of the most memorable lines in the fictional movie The Replacements is spoken by a coach to one of his football players: “I look at you, and I see two men: the man you are… and the man you oughta be. Someday, those two will meet.” The coach envisioned his player beyond past setbacks to one day becoming a great athlete. God likewise views each believer without considering mistakes, regardless of the type or frequency. This was David’s revelation when he declared, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
I’m so glad God grades on a curve filled with grace and mercy. He chooses not to see our imperfections but works through them to transform us into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
