But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel – Philippians 2:22

“I want to thank you two for attending my father’s funeral. He truly treasured his employees.  It meant so much for him to be the kind of supervisor that his employees felt comfortable around him,” Melissa said before walking away. “Brian, her father, was certainly not the boss she described,” Jennifer surmised. “You’re right. He was just the opposite. Too bad he never got the chance to prove himself differently,”  Brian announced.

If you want to be noted, you must be proven.  This had been annotated in a pad from my pastor’s sermon when he mentioned apostle Paul’s relationship with Timothy, the young man he was mentoring.  How, Timothy had proven himself to be a trusted ally and friend, as supported by verse 22 in Philippians 2.  The young man had consistently shown himself to be reliable and a good representative for apostle Paul.  In other words, Timothy’s best, godly behavior, wasn’t just worn on Sunday, but throughout the week.

In our jobs, homes, and communities, we have an opportunity to demonstrate Christian behavior.   Although we’ll never be perfect, we can nevertheless strive to be proven as someone who seeks to honor God.
