Good Standing – Monday, May 25, 2026

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness – 1 John 1:9

No matter what the world offers me
Though tempting, it will never be

The peace I always find
When I keep You on my mind
By doing what You seek of me
And focusing on who I’m meant to be

But despite giving my all
There are times when I fall
And Your forgiveness becomes my landing
Leading me back to good standing

Living a life that’s pleasing to God is a lifelong journey.  This was my summation after listening to a compelling sermon, a message I hoped to convey in the opening poem. That even the best intentions will at times miss the mark.    However, unlike being a contestant on a game show, making mistakes as a Christian won’t disqualify you.  We’re not called to be perfect, but to strive daily to live the teachings and behaviors of the One who was perfect, Jesus Christ.

Each day is a new opportunity to resume walking on the right path, no matter if you stumbled the day before.  It happens with a desire to get back up and humbly ask to be returned to good standing with God once more.
