And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful – Mark 4:19
I looked up at the sky
To see the bird that caught my eye
As it flew to and fro
To signal for me to know
Good days are ahead
So, don’t be misled
By what’s in today
Be assured, it’s not here to stay
Because God is still in control
No matter what may unfold.
This poem was created as I pondered an impending Supreme Court ruling that, if approved, would negatively impact millions of lives. However, I’m reminded of Jesus’ response to Pontius Pilate in John 19:11: “Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above,” confirming it is God who has ultimate power.
I’m learning not to allow my emotions to be influenced by the “cares of this world” but to trust in God’s authoritative role in all matters. Remembering who’s in control prevents being misled by threats from those whose powers are limited.
