Being An Earthen Vessel – Monday, February 16, 2026

Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then said I, “Here am I. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8

“The next prayer request is from a single father of an eight-year-old daughter who just moved to the area to begin a new job that will require him to attend half-day training for a week, starting two Mondays from now.   Since he’s financially strapped, he seeks prayer that God will provide help to ensure his daughter is ready to catch the bus in the morning and then be available to watch her for an hour when she gets home.  Let’s pray,” Ethel said, bowing her head.  “Then afterwards, let’s strategize how we can be an earthen vessel for God to help this father,” Sarah said.

Aren’t you glad you didn’t just pray about it; you also did something about it?  This thought came to mind during a recent visit to a nursing home resident, who shared a praise report with me.  Because the issue she had told me about during my previous visit appeared to have been resolved.   I felt grateful that God had nudged me to alert the proper authority about the matter.   It wasn’t enough for me to petition for His help; He wanted me to be useful in facilitating the answer.

Just as we seek God’s help, so are we sought to be the moving parts involved in the prayer’s response.   If called upon, are you willing to be an earthen vessel by answering, “Here am I. Send me!”?
